Brian Kirwin over at Bearing Drift has a great post about the backwards logic of university bureaucrats who believe illegal immigrants help fund our college system.

Today, January 18, two of the most bizarre ‘constituent meetings’ in history took place. In 1990 Washington DC Mayor Marion Barry was caught, on videotape no less, by the FBI in a Washington hotel room smoking crack cocaine with a prostitute. Claiming that the “b**** set m up” Mayor Barry was convicted on possession of cocaine charges, serving 6 months in jail.
In a sign of what a great place Washington is, Barry was re-elected Mayor in 1994. That’s right, the good denizens of D.C. elected a convicted crack-head to run their city. And they wonder why they don’t have electoral college votes.
The second item is, of course, the Monica Lewinsky Scandal. Broken by The Drudge Report today in 1998, it put the final nail in the coffin of Bill Clinton’s legacy. Hooray for that. Have a happy January 18 folks, who knows what insanity we’ll see.
Maybe Hillary will come out
…and announce she’s dropping out of the race!

Over at the community blog HburgNews, the blogger Finnegan does not believe I have a sense of humor. Finnegan recently said, “Oh, believe me, [Fitzgerald] does have a sense of humor. Although you may not appreciate it, being a college Republican and all”.
Finnegan implies being a CR somehow undermines ones ability to have a sense of humor. So I pose the question to you.

Rudy demonstrates a serious lack of understanding regarding terrorism:
The sad thing is he’s serious. Rudy, I have a couple questions:
1. We’ve been exporting values that are anathema to Islamists for decades. Why now?
2. Seeing as they hate people for freedom, why has equal weight not been thrown at each free country? Why hasn’t al-Qaeda attacked Israel? Why hasn’t Fatah attacked Switzerland? Why hasn’t the PKK attacked the US?
Oh, and I’d love to see some actual statistics to back this up. This type of naivety is what will lose us the war on terror.
Here’s a smarter analysis of terrorism. And
another take on the same book.

We at the CRFV apologize on behalf of Blogger.com for not posting in a few days. Blogger.com labeled us a “spam blog” and took six days to reactivate our publishing power. I can understand that using some algorithm their bots singled us out. It was a false-positive, but to take six days to remedy the problem is inexcusable.
It has been our plan all along to upgrade, but we are attempting to speed up the process of upgrading this blog. This means a new provider and a new URL. Look out for the upgrades in the coming weeks!

Prime Minister Gordon Brown of the UK has thrown is political weight behind a measure that would allow for the removal of organs from a patient without their express consent. Known as “assumed consent” this proposal would allow doctors to harvest a person’s organs after death unless there is specific evidence they didn’t want to donate or a family member directly objects.
This new program would also appoint a head surgeon at every hospital in Britain who would be in charge of “converting” dying patients into voluntary organ donors. Hospitals will be rated on how many dying patients they “convert” and on how early they identify potential donors. Hospitals will also be required to alert donation coordinators of a patient’s eligibility earlier than they were previously allowed to.
This is when socialized medicine gets truly frightening my friends, when the government decides it has the right to enter your body and claim your organs for everyone else, regardless of whether you have directly consented or not. Assumed consent is no consent at all, and is in fact a frighteningly contradictory term which sounds like it sprang straight from Orwell’s pen.
This is exactly where America is headed if liberals get the reigns to our healthcare system, treating someone’s deathbed like a scrap-yard and turning doctors into the local neighborhood junk man. No doctor or government should treat patients like old cars, it is an insult to human dignity and freedom. And it must not happen here.

George Allen will NOT seek the office of Virginia governor in 2009.
Bill Richardson is dropping out of the presidential race. His endorsement is up in the air.
McCain is diverting money to Michigan where he hopes to deliver the death nell to Romney’s campaign.
A budget transparency act has been endorsed by AG McDonnell & Lt. Gov. Bolling. The act already has bi-partisan support and would increase the ease the public could view Virginia’s budget.
AG McDonnell announced his legislative agenda. View it here

Wow.
That is the only way to describe this, a course being offered at the University of Michigan entitled “How to be Gay: Male Homosexuality and Initiation”. While I will let you read this for yourself, here is part of the course description:
“Just because you happen to be a gay man doesn’t mean that you don’t have to learn how to become one. Gay men do some of that learning on their own, but often we learn how to be gay from others, either because we look to them for instruction or because they simply tell us what they think we need to know, whether we ask for their advice or not.”
This course is ridiculous and Michigan taxpayers should be outraged that they are paying for a school to teach students how to be gay! I thought being gay was genetic or something, not learned. It appears I was wrong.
*UM has removed the above link,
here is the course description.
